Senior Residential Support Worker

As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will ensure that care and service levels meet all regulatory and organizational standards by adhering to the home’s statement of purpose, function, and management. You will work within established policies and procedures and promote these among the staff team. Your role will involve collaborating with colleagues to ensure that all young people have comprehensive care plans, developing, implementing, and reviewing these care packages as needed. You will be responsible for the proper reception, ongoing care, and discharge of young people, ensuring compliance with statutory frameworks and organizational policies and procedures.

You will assist in the induction and mentoring of new staff members, prepare for shifts, and support the team as a whole. Additionally, you will support staff in their direct work with young people, ensuring close collaboration with local authorities, therapy services, and educational providers to integrate services effectively. Your duties will also include undertaking routine administrative tasks and producing various reports, such as reviews, progress updates, and incident reports. You will be responsible for writing and overseeing the content of reports for statutory reviews and ensuring that recommendations are followed up. Encouraging residents to maintain a responsible attitude towards the care of the home’s environment and supporting them in managing both personal spaces and communal areas is also a key part of the role.

Requirements for the Role

To be considered for the Senior Residential Support Worker role, you should have at least 1.5 years of experience within residential childcare. You should have started or be near completing a Level 3 Diploma in residential childcare or an equivalent qualification, with a willingness to work towards a Level 5 qualification. Flexibility to work on a 1 on 2 off rota, with typical shift patterns from 8 am to 11 pm including sleep-ins (+£50), and the ability to work in nearby homes as needed, are essential. A solid knowledge of governing legislation, procedures, and best practices in caring for children is crucial, along with the ability to facilitate team working and motivate staff teams.
